Imbil, QLD – Gubbi Gubbi Country
Located in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, banksia is a design for a new build inspired by the resilience of nature and the charred beauty of a banksia after bushfire. A dark, refined exterior sits in striking contrast to the warmth of Tasmanian oak throughout the interior, creating a home that feels both grounded and inviting.
Positioned within an open grassland setting, the L-shaped plan embraces the pool and outdoor living areas, forming a sheltered private courtyard within the expansive landscape. The architecture creates a sense of enclosure and warmth, offering a place of retreat while maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding hinterland.
At KD Studio, we recognise that every structure we design sits upon the traditional lands of the First Nations people of Australia. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters where we live and work, paying our respects to Elders past and present.
