Imbil, QLD – Gubbi Gubbi Country
Karri is one of our first projects and reflects the design principles that define KD Studio. Set amongst a grove of silver gums, the home embraces its natural surroundings through a restrained palette of concrete and timber, creating a timeless architecture that feels grounded within the landscape.
The brief was to design a warm, contemporary home with generous volumes, high ceilings, and a seamless connection between indoors and out. Natural timber is celebrated throughout the interior and exterior, allowing the building to weather gracefully over time and blend effortlessly into its bushland setting.
Karri is a home designed to age beautifully, where honest materials, simple forms, and a deep connection to place create an enduring sense of warmth and belonging.
At KD Studio, we recognise that every structure we design sits upon the traditional lands of the First Nations people of Australia. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters where we live and work, paying our respects to Elders past and present.
As architects and designers, we are inspired by the deep history of sustainable land stewardship and the enduring connection to Country that has existed for over 60,000 years. We commit to practicing with respect, mindfulness, and a spirit of continuous learning.
